#4. Bayonetta
Game appeared in: Bayonetta (2010)
Creator: Platinum Games
Character stance: Second-party

INTRODUCTION

If you already saw #13, you already know that Hideki Kamiya’s the director of the of the best games we’ve seen. DMC, Viewtiful Joe, you know how that goes. I did mention that there are three games in particular that has a main character on this list. #13 is Wonder Red, and this spot on the list goes to the Umbran Witch Bayonetta herself!

Way back when I talked about Sub-Zero, I mention that there needed to have some compromises when it comes to certain things. Sub-Zero’s case is not to have blood splatter effects and have a gory type of Fatality, so for Bayonetta? Well, in the original games, seeing that her clothing is ACTUALLY her hair, when she summons an Infernal Demon, she loses her clothing, but her naughty bits, albeit also covered with what looks to be a light-gray under-unitard-garment-thing, are covered up when summoning them. If she gets entered for Sm4sh as DLC, her clothes will stay intact like she’s wearing an alternate out, like the Nintendo outfits in the Wii U versions. Also, Fox and Falco’s blasters don’t leave holes in our Nintendo chracters like friggin’ swiss cheese, so her guns won’t do the same thing either. Anyways, we should look at her specials, and I already have them written down before I started this countdown in the first place! :3

SPECIALS

Her standard B, Charge Bullet, charges up a bullet from one of her guns to build it up. Does maximum damage if fully charged. So basically, it’s another charge attack, but this one in particular goes through enemies, and again, does not leave a swiss cheese hole in our characters!

Her Side-B, Bullet Climax, Fires her guns from her hands and heels in a 4-button combo. Functions like Marth/Lucina/Roy's Dancing Blade, but requires holding the button during combos. This attack is different, because you have to hold the button during the Side-B, and the finishing combo ends with her laying on her side, posing, like after her bullet climax attack.

Her Up-B, Crow Within, has Bayonetta transforming into a crow, allowing her to fly in  whatever direction, while attacking enemies with feathers surrounding her during the special. and yes, it’s also a recovery move.

And her down-B, her signature ability called Witch Time, is a unique counter that, in the original game, when the enemy attacks, and Bayonetta dodges at the last second, times slows down, letting her attack and combo enemies. In Sm4sh, it’ll slow down the opponent if the attack connects, showing Bayonetta dodging at the last second, for how long depending on theopponent’s damage percentage is. If the opponent’s damage is at 0%, it’s just going to slow him/her down for half a second, but if it’s like 120%, it’s going to slow that opponent for about 6-7 seconds, so it’s wise for anyone that suffered a lot of damage to not attacking Bayonetta if her Witch Time counter is set up.

FINAL SMASH

Her Final Smash has Bayonetta summoning the queen of Inferno, Queen Sheba. She rises larger against the victim(s), as she kisses her fist before punches Bayonetta's opponent(s) and into the edge of the screen. The amount of damage it would do will be astronomical, about 90% damage. This comes with the fact that (SPOILERS) its enough to punch Jubileus’s soul out of her body and into the sun! Of course, this is a contact move, so her fist has to hit someone when Bayonetta uses it.

WHY THIS CHARACTER?

Now, she isn’t being promoted by Platinum Games or anything major, it’s that I’ve seen Top # lists of characters people want to see in Sm4sh, and most of them has Bayonetta in it! Also, I’ve seen people having great interests in having her in, despite things I mention that can be compromised. She looks like an athletic Sm4sh character, but Zero Suit Samus also happens to fit the bill. Also, yes, she’s a Sega character, but she also appeared in Bayonetta 2, alongside a Wii U port of the first game, so I’m labeling her as a Second-party character.

more, and we’ve REALLY came a long way! Leave a comment below about Bayonetta, and make sure you leave a vote in the ballot before October 3rd. I mean, I have ideal compromises set up for those two characters from M-rated games, so it’s not going to be THAT big a deal, right?
